A sound liver eliminates harmful toxins from the body, regulates blood composition, and also regulates the processes that are responsible for the conversion of nutrients into the body. Your liver also stores essential vitamins, simple sugar glucose, and iron obtained from food. So what can you do to keep your liver operating smoothly? Incorporate these seven herbs into your diet, and consume regularly!
1. Chanca Piedra
This herb successfully takes care of liver disorders that arise from diseases such as: hepatitis-B, jaundice, fatty liver, diabetes, and intestinal infection. Chanca piedra has immense potential to balance out heat in the body (pitta factors in Ayurveda). It is also helps manage digestive disorders like hyperacidity, constipation, inflammation, and dysentery. This herb also helps reduce your risk of cholestasis, which occurs when excess bile acid is retained in the liver.
2. Gooseberry (Solanum nigrum)
This is an excellent remedy for the management of liver diseases. The extract of its leaves and fruits are used to decrease discomfort from liver disorders. This herb effectively destroys the toxic substances in the body, and is useful in healing wounds, scars, cancerous sores, and healing cirrhosis of the liver.
3. Hellebore (Picorrhiza kurroa)
Hellebore is a beneficial Ayurvedic remedy for lung and liver issues. It is effective for patients experiencing frequent vomiting, and fevers. This is the best remedy for balancing heat (pitta) levels in the body. It is highly beneficial in liver and kidney failure, diabetes, jaundice, liver cancers, skin ailments and psoriasis. This is considered to be a liver regenerating herb.
4. Punarnav (Boerhavia diffusa)
Punarnava is a very significant herb in Ayurveda, used for rejuvenation and regeneration of liver for complete detoxification. When your body is attacked by harmful bacteria, your liver suffers the most. This herb used for kidney and urinary related problems, and can be ingested by juicing the leaves and root portions of the plant. Not only does this herb enhance the functioning of liver, but it also helps heal root causes of jaundice and hepatitis.
5. Green chirayta (Andrographis paniculata)
This herb is extremely important in healing your liver, reducing digestive discomfort, reducing fevers, and reducing pain in the body. This herb has anti-inflammatory, and has immune system enhancing properties that manages all kinds of infections—including HIV that has spread into the lungs and liver.
6. Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
This herb consists of remarkable healing, protective, and regenerative qualities for your liver. It prevents a build up of gas in the intestine, prevents bloating in the stomach, weakness, loss of appetite, jaundice and liver disorders. It is very helpful in restoring liver in good condition, and works to boost overall liver function.
7. Chicory (Cichorium intybus)
It is useful in healing malfunctions of the liver, kidney, respiratory organ, and digestive systems. A glass of fresh chicory juice, when consumed early morning, is a remarkable home remedy for liver disorders! It deals effectively in hepatic enlargement, sluggish liver, fever, vomiting, and any painful sensations in your abdomen. It is also great for cleansing the urinary tract, and removing harmful substances from the body.
