About the Event
Music provides the core of the Bhakti Fest. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience devotional chanting, called kirtan, continuously, along with nationally acclaimed musicians including Krishna Das, Deva Premal & Miten, Jai Uttal, WAH and Donna De Lory, to name a few. Twelve hours of daily yoga classes in three large studios will be facilitated by incomparable and world-renowned yoga teachers such as Shiva Rea, Sara Ivanhoe and Bryan Kest. Each day will also feature extensive wisdom workshops geared to educate and inspire with some of the most formidable guides of our time, covering such topics as Aromatherapy, Nutrition, Pranayama, Mantras and Mudras, Meditation and more. Presenters include Radhanath Swami Shyamdas, Ron Alexander, Mirabai Devi, Lorin Roche, David Haberman and others.
Attendees will be invited to leave the busy world behind and immerse themselves in a conscious community for four full days for what the festival producers call “the path of the heart.” They will experience an independent thriving community complete with an eco-friendly vendor village of more than 100 artisan merchants who will offer delicious, high vibrational raw, vegan, and vegetarian foods and beverages, yoga gear, clothing, musical instruments, crafts and more.
Offering incomparable yoga and world music since 2009 Bhakti Fest embraces ancient and modern sacred wisdom and traditional and non-traditional spiritual practices. It was originally organized by The Center for Spiritual Studies (CSS), a non-profit foundation created in 1973 to generate a united voice for yoga and chanting. CCS has now licensed BhaktiVentures to handle the Bhakti Fests. Monies raised from the Bhakti Fests will be donated to CCS to be disbursed to its various charities which provide housing, food, education, medical, and environmental beautification programs around the world.
CCS was founded by Sridhar Silberfein who has been on a personal spiritual quest for over thirty years. He has hosted many of the eminent Indian saints and teachers such as Swami Muktananda, Kalu Rimpoche and Ammachi. He produced the docudrama River of Love on the life of Ammachi, and has been instrumental in managing Ram Dass’s remarkable return to health and producing his retreats. He brought Swami Satchidananda to Woodstock as a young yogi, at which time he committed to someday producing the spiritual equivalent of Woodstock, which now embodies the three Bhakti Fests: Shakti Fest, Bhakti Fest Midwest and the original Bhakti Fest held every September since 2009. His life as a spiritual businessman included the first health food store in Topanga Canyon, The Desert Essence natural products company, and the Triloka recording label.
