About Your Teachers:
Carri Uranga & Sarah Walsh are both ERYT 200 & RYT 500 Yoga instructors. They met in India while continuing their passion & love for the practice and then assisted their teacher together at a teacher training in Italy guiding others in their transformative quest.
While attending her first Ashtanga series she was fascinated by the way she felt not only during practice, but long afterwards. This lasting effect on body & mind led her to practice numerous styles in addition to Ashtanga including Iyengar, Anusara, Yin, Forrest, Hot Yoga and of course Vinyasa!
In 2007 Carri decided to deepen her practice & attended the Yandara Institute in Baja, Mexico completing a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training program. She continually participates in a variety of workshops to further her education and understanding of the human body & has enjoyed Desiree Rumbaugh, Ana Forrest, David Swenson, David Garrigues, Baron Baptiste, Brock & Krista Cahill, Tiffany Cruikshank, Tim Miller and Kino MacGregor. She recently participated in the Off the Mat Leadership Training with Seane Corn, Suzanne Sterling and Hala Khouri at the Omega Institute. Other certifications include Yin Yoga Teacher Training & Power Pilates Certification.
She completed an Ashtanga Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training program in India Feb 2011. She earned RYT 500 hour status in the Fall in Italy where she led morning meditation and taught Restorative & Yin Yoga sessions after mornings full of intense Primary Series practice.
Carri has a passion for travel & has worked at Ibiza Yoga in Spain. In 2009 & 2010 she was the Resident Instructor at Samana Chakra Yoga Retreat in Mancora, Peru and Taught at South Africa Yoga this past spring. Her powerful, creative Vinyasa classes maintain attention to detail and alignment with a fun & vivacious approach. She is a contributor for www.yoganonymous.com, The Philadelphia Examiner, and www.southafricayoga.com.
Sarah’s relationship with Yoga began over 10 years ago in Toronto. It has been quite the ride since then, full of unexpected adventure and surprises! Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Sarah found her way to New York City where she now lives and teaches. She currently teaches at Sangha Yoga Shala in Williamsburg and runs a private practice.
She recently returned from teaching in Goa, India, for four months at her own Yoga Shala. Sarah has her YA 200 hour certification in Vinyasa Yoga from Sonic Yoga in NYC and obtained her YA 500 hour in Ashtanga in India from the Source of Yoga. She teaches both styles and feels they are wonderful complements to each other: her Ashtanga classes are influenced by Vinyasa’s focus on alignment and her Vinyasa creative flow classes benefit from the structural element of Ashtanga.
This past September Sarah also participated in teaching at a Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in the south of Italy. She taught for two years at The Giving Tree Yoga Studio and at several fitness studios in NYC. She is featured as the Spiritual Gangster in Hipp Trip, an online travel site.
A class with Sarah is a combination of a physical and a spiritual experience. We all have our own unique journey to embark on, both on and off the mat. Sarah aims to guide you on this journey, hopefully leading you on your own exciting and enlightening path as well as inspiring others!
