A New Year’s journey to Karnataka – Southern India with Janet Stone and Hareesh Wallis
Join Janet & Hareesh on the adventure of a lifetime as you travel rural India in style, weaving together ancient Tantrik philosophy in its homeland with the reality of the modern globalized world, and exploring how the two come together in a wisdom-infused vinyāsa retreat for teachers and devoted practitioners on the yogic path. You’ll begin in Bangalore (Bengaluru) and travel on to the sacred temples in Belur and Halebīdu, where you’ll stay at an eco-resort. After a luscious journey to a secluded forest temple dedicated the Goddess, you’ll root in for five nights in Hampi — ruined capital of the last great Indian empire — and fill your days with yoga, the wisdom teachings of classical Tantra, music, swimming, delicious South Indian cuisine, and of course hikes through the stunning landscape to meditation caves and temples. You’ll ring in the New Year with a sacred celebration and spend the first few days of 2014 steeping in ancient practices.
From there you’ll have the opportunity to travel home, onto your own pilgrimage, or spend another three nights with Hareesh as he guides you to the sacred sites of Aihole, Pattadakal and Badami before ending up back in Bangalore.
As teachers we are often the link from the ordinary to the extraordinary for our students, and we seek to deliver teachings that help them (and us) to remember their own divine nature. This sacred journey is sure to offer you more tools that create a deeper experience through mantra, stories, poetry, awareness cultivation, and of course sublimely creative āsana. You will leave feeling inspired in your body and connected to the divine nature within and all around you.
Janet’s personal yoga journey began in 1996 when she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, where she met an inspired yogi and became dedicated to a conscious evolution through yoga. She blends a wealth of knowledge and experience to create a unique, vigorous-yet-sumptuous approach to Vinyasa yoga that melds awareness with movement, breath, heart, and humor. She teaches workshops, retreats, and teacher training around the world.
Christopher (Hareesh) was introduced to Indian spirituality at the age of six and initiated into the practice of meditation and yoga at sixteen. While traveling around the world in his early twenties, he felt an inner inspiration to study, teach, and practice Indian spirituality and meditation as the focus of his life. He now has over 20 years of practice, and has been studying and teaching the tradition full time since 1997.
