What is a mantra?
Why use a mantra? In the beginning, a mantra can be challenging to pronounce & understand but persistence is the key!
A mantra is a transformational & healing tool for the self . Mantra is vibration. It is energy! Vibration exists behind our physical matter & inside we have different frequencies. The specifics of mantra use, vary depending on tradition.
In Kundalini Yoga we use mantra to elevate ourselves to a higher state
of awareness. There is a beautiful mantra in the language of Gurmukhi I would love to share. Gurmukhi is the most common script used for writing the Punjabi language in India. Gurmukhi is derived from the Old Punjabi term “guramukhi”, meaning ” from the mouth of the Guru”.
The Mantra is Wahe Guru (Waa-Hay Goo- roo). Wahe is a statement of aliveness & ecstasy. Guru is the one who brings us from darkness to light. Wahe Guru is an expression of complete ecstatic awe of the Divine!
It expresses ecstasy through knowledge and experience. Dwelling in God. Wahe Guru expresses indescribable experience of going from darkness to light—from ignorance to true understanding.
Wahe Guru can simply be done sitting in easy pose, lotus position, legs crossed, fingers in powerful Gyan mudra—connect the thumb and forefinger, other fingers relaxed. The forefinger is related to Jupiter. With your eyes closed, focus at the third eye point.
Practice this mantra for three minutes. You can build up to 11 minutes. Looking for a complete transformation & deep connection with the Infinite? Commit 40 days to a Wahe Guru Sadhana (self discipline spiritual practice).
In which areas of your Life are you moving from darkness into light?
