Oregon, Alaska & Washington D.C. Vote to Legalize Marijuana

The Oregon and Alaska measures would allow for retail pot shops, similar to those that already exist in Washington State and Colorado.

Washington D.C. will allow marijuana possession but not retail sales, which is likely to influence the federal government's opinion on the current legal status of marijuana.

In Maine, a proposal to legalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana failed in Lewiston and passed in South Portland. In Guam, results indicated it became the first U.S. territory to approval medical marijuana.

Medical Marijuana failed in Florida.
