Name: Cacao

Most Commonly Found: The cacao tree is native to the Americas. It may have originated in the foothills of the Andes in the Amazon and Orinoco basins of South America, current day Columbia and Venezuela, where it is still found today. 

Stone Cold Facts: Cacao is the dried and fully fermented fatty seed of Theobroma cacao. Cocoa solids (chocolate) and cocoa butter and extracted from it. In addition, many Mesoamerican foods like mole sauce and tejate are created from it.
