YOGANONYMOUS Weekend Picks: November 4 - 6

Namaste, yogis!

Hope you had a spooktacular Halloween! After Halloween, I always feel a bit of a shift inward, as the days get shorter and the air gets colder. In times of closing up, it’s important to engage your body and nourish your mind so that you can thrive from the inside out.

We’ve got some great events lined up for you this weekend, including a yoga and music festival in the mountains, a vegetarian cooking workshop, and even a floating retreat in the heart of Sri Lanna National Park. This weekend also begins Veteran’s Gratitude Week. This week is a time to show our gratitude to our veterans and communities, and to give them support. Please contribute what you can, whether it be leading a donation-based class, donating to the cause, or raising awareness in your community.

Veterans Gratitude Week, United States

Friday, November 4 - Sunday, November 13
Veterans Gratitude Week began in 2014 when 14 yoga instructors decided to teach donation-based classes to raise money and awareness for our veterans. By 2015, Veterans Gratitude Week grew to 400 classes and events across 39 states, attended by thousands of veterans and civilians.

This year, the goal is to reach all 50 states. The events are centered around an expression of gratitude for those in the armed forces. You can support Veterans Gratitude Week by making a donation, hosting an event, and spreading the word to your community. All proceeds will help to support the recovery and resilience of our veterans, families, and communities.

Yoga Nidra means “Yogic Sleep,” and is essentially a state of conscious deep sleep. During the meditation, you remain in the waking state of consciousness and gently focus the mind while noticing the thought patterns, emotions, and images that tend to arise. It is deeply cleansing and brings stillness, calmness, and clarity. This workshop is the perfect way to recharge your body and mind.
